3D Model Contributor Guide
This section explains the general 3D art requirements for NETFISHING.
NETFISHING uses:
- Godot 4.7.1
- Blender for authored 3D assets
- GLB/glTF 2.0 for model interchange
- Compatibility renderer
- 1 Blender unit = 1 meter
- 1 Godot unit = 1 meter
Visual direction
Models should feel:
- Bright
- Cheerful
- Chunky
- Slightly toy-like
- Low-poly or moderately stylized
- Readable from the normal gameplay camera
- Simple enough to match assets from multiple contributors
Prioritize:
- Strong silhouettes
- Exaggerated but believable proportions
- Clear color blocking
- Recognizable shapes
- Clean geometry
- Predictable origins and pivots
Avoid:
- Photorealism
- Highly detailed PBR materials
- Very thin geometry
- Excessive bevels
- Tiny details that disappear at gameplay distance
- Large unique texture sets
- Complex Blender procedural materials
- Generative-AI-created assets
Reference palette
Suggested environmental colors:
- Cream sky:
#F3E3C5 - Seafoam highlight:
#8FD3C4 - Turquoise water:
#2F9E9A - Deep teal:
#176F73 - Sunlit sand:

- Characters
- Interactable objects
- Shop items
- Bobbers
- Signs
- Important landmarks
- UI accents
General asset complexity
Small props should usually use:
- 1–4 materials
- A small number of readable shapes
- No texture files unless requested
- No collision unless requested
Larger structures may use:
- 2–6 materials
- Multiple reusable parts
- Simplified collision
- Broader silhouette detail
Do not add geometry that cannot be seen from the normal gameplay camera.
Required deliverables
Unless an issue specifies otherwise, contributors should provide:
- Blender source file
- Exported GLB file
- Blender screenshot
- Godot screenshot at normal gameplay camera distance
- Approximate dimensions
- Material list
- Collision notes
- Link to the related issue
Originality and licensing
Only submit work that you created or that is explicitly approved for the project.
Do not submit:
- Generative-AI-created models or textures
- Ripped game assets
- Copyrighted commercial assets
- Marketplace assets without approval
- Models copied from another project
- Assets with unclear licensing
Ask questions before beginning a large or ambiguous asset.
