If you use the art kit and go into the art mode, you can switch off of the kit and still be in art mode

The artkit needs it's click action removed. You should be either scrolled to the artkit, and using it, or scrolled away. (TIP: you can also just hit P on the keyboard once you own it) but that's not the issue here. I'll address this with a UX change.
